Acumatica 2026 R2 Virtual Launch Recap:

The Acumatica 2026 R2 Virtual Launch Event on October 1st brought together customers, partners, and industry experts to see the latest exciting innovations in Acumatica’s cloud ERP. R2 raises the bar with new AI-powered experiences, enhanced performance, and industry-driven features that help teams work more efficiently. Whether you’re looking to accelerate decision-making, improve collaboration, or streamline operations, this release delivers the intelligence, flexibility, and usability needed to support your next phase of growth. Below, we break down the 2026 R2 updates that matter most and explain what they mean.

General Session: Exciting Announcements

The event kicked off with Acumatica leadership laying out the vision for 2026 R2. Central themes included:

AI moves from answering to action:

You can now build AI agents with plain-language instructions and let them run multi-step processes on their own.

Reports and dashboards get faster:

Data warehousing for generic Inquiries stores results from large or frequently used inquiries, so they load quickly.

The Classic UI is now disabled:

You can still use Classic-only forms, but Classic dashboards and pivot tables can no longer be created.

Paying vendors gets easier:

New AvidXchange and BILL options cover virtual card, ACH and check. On top of that, Bill expands into international payments.

Core Platform and AI Enhancements

Acumatica 2026 R2 broadens the role of AI throughout the platform with a more intelligent AI Assistant, configurable no-code AI agents, enhanced governance and security protections, and secure connections to external AI platforms. Beyond AI, this release delivers faster, more secure reporting, expanded self-service analytics, and improved collaboration through enhanced customer, vendor, and partner experiences.

AI Assistant can now handle more complex, time-based questions. A controller can ask how a balance has shifted between two dates or compared with a prior period, then drill into the specific transactions that caused the change. Helpful answers don’t have to disappear after the conversation, either. You can save them as dashboard widgets that your team can keep using and refining.

This is the headline feature. You create an AI agent by describing what it should do, with no coding required. Agents can be triggered automatically by Business Events, Import/Export Scenarios, or workflows you already have in place. They can also hand work off to one another, making them practical for multi-step tasks such as reviewing and adjusting prices to meet a target margin or evaluating a customer’s credit risk before approving an order.

New MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers let administrators connect outside AI tools, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to Acumatica. Access is read-only and limited to published Generic Inquiries, so you decide exactly what data those tools can see.

Expanded data masking keeps sensitive fields protected when AI is involved, and token usage tracking shows what your AI automation is actually consuming.

  • Data Warehousing for Generic Inquiries prepares and stores results for large or heavily used inquiries. Dashboards, pivot tables, OData feeds, and MCP connections all load faster as a result. Results can refresh on a schedule or whenever you need them.
  • Grouped Table views display inquiry results as expandable hierarchies with subtotals and grand totals. You get report-style organization without opening Report Designer.
  • DAC-level data security lets business users build their own inquiries while seeing only the data they’re authorized to view. That means more self-service reporting without giving up control.

Simplified vendor payments and collaboration with outside parties.

  • AP Payments powered by AvidXchange pay vendors by virtual card, ACH, or check. Vendor bank details don’t need to be stored in Acumatica, which reduces your security exposure.
  • BILL Pay Faster now supports ACH and foreign-currency payments to international vendors.
  • Updated vendor, customer, and partner portals include embedded payments to help speed up collections and make project collaboration smoother.

Construction & Professional Services Edition

Construction and professional services projects rarely follow a straight line. Scopes change, phases overlap, and subcontractors need constant updates. Acumatica 2026 R2 targets these challenges with new tools for organizing projects, managing changes, and forecasting costs.

Gives subcontractors and vendors self-service access to subcontracts, purchase orders, and compliance documents. It’s the first step toward the broader Acumatica Construction Exchange.

More precise, commitments can be linked to change requests, tax breakdowns appear before a change order is created, and you can track what’s been billed versus what’s pending.

Quantity-based progress billing, and a new Reclassify Project Transactions form reduce manual corrections.

Roll up billing and reporting across phases, job sites, or scopes of work.

Distribution & Commerce Edition

Distribution and Commerce customer trust comes down to one thing: delivering what you promised, when you promised it. This release strengthens every step of that process, from committing to ship dates to picking orders and syncing sales channels.

See projected supply and demand right on the order line, so your team can commit to realistic ship dates.

Adapts to how your warehouse operates, from scanning individual units to allocating across bulk, case-pick, and fast-pick zones.

Improve across the board: BigCommerce B2B accounts sync both ways, Shopify exchanges come through fully reconciled, and Amazon connectivity has been enhanced.

Improved rate shopping and EasyPost address validation, which means fewer delivery surprises.

Manufacturing Edition

Acumatica 2026 R2 gives manufacturers more realistic schedules, a simpler shop floor experience, and smarter planning from the front office to the floor. Here’s how 2026 R2 helps manufacturers plan better and run leaner.

Schedule production forward or backward using finite or infinite capacity, based on your actual calendars, shifts, and efficiencies.

Can now be the only screen operators use. They can issue materials to an operation, add substitutes, record lot and serial attributes, and fix mistakes on the spot.

Allow AI Assistant to answer questions about schedule performance, material requirements, material risk, production order risk, and production planning insights.

Now treat safety stock and reorder points as separate planning methods.

Key Takeaways

Acumatica Logo 2024

Acumatica 2026 R2 is more than a routine update. AI now takes action instead of just answering questions, with agents that handle multi-step tasks, and smarter suggestions across every edition. Faster, more secure reporting and new automation in payroll, projects, the shop floor and the warehouse mean less manual work for your team.

The release also adds features tailored to each industry, from Advanced Planning and Scheduling for manufacturers to a Vendor Portal for construction firms and Available-to-Promise for distributors. With the Modern UI now the default and new connections to external AI tools, Acumatica is building a flexible platform that’s ready for what comes next.
