Is Skype Your Next Enterprise Communications Provider?

In September and October 2010, Skype has been party to several announcements that speak to its newfound focus on the enterprise. Although Aberdeen research has tracked Skype as both a videoconferencing channel and a collaboration tool, formal Skype adoption has traditionally been hampered by the lack of enterprise security, support and management associated with its products. We believe that Skype's role in the enterprise may be changing. By placing recent announcements regarding Skype, Avaya, Cisco, and Teleopti in context of Aberdeen's communications research, this document will provide insight to the future of Skype in the enterprise.
