Global Editor

LMGE Global Editor (L/M Data Scan and Change Utility) allows the user to scan standard MAS 90 data files, making global changes.

This product is incorporated into the DSD Utility Suite, which simplifies installation and use.

The Global Editor allows the user to scan standard Sage MAS 90 data files, making global changes. This is a Data Dictionary driven utility, so it is not necessary for the user to know anything more than the Data Dictionary designation for the desired file, and the field names to be edited.

Records to be edited may be selected by specifying the value, or range of values, for any field in the file. Only records containing the specified criteria will be changed. Masks may be used for non-numeric selection fields (i.e. select only General Ledger Account Numbers which fit a 100***000 mask). Up to six different fields may be changed during a single scan of the file. Fields may be changed in the following ways:

• String and numeric fields may be set to other fields in the same record.
• String and numeric fields may be set to a constant value or mask value.
• Numeric fields may be multiplied by a constant factor, or incremented by a constant value.
• Numeric fields may be added to, subtracted from, or set equal to other numeric fields in the same record.

If desired, a search may be conducted which changes no data. This is useful for locating standard Sage MAS 90 records based on a field that has no search key, such as the Contact Name in the A/R Customer Masterfile.

If desired, an audit listing of all changed or located records may be printed.

Note that Header Files and Line Detail files cannot be accessed for data integrity reasons.

If desired, the Global Editor will prompt the user when a record is selected. If a change is being made, the Editor will display the old value and the new value. The prompt will ask whether to proceed.
